SISTER MILAGROS DAYRIT R.A.
An educator, nun and community organizer. She was born on Oct. 23, 1915 in Magalang, Pampanga. She helped poor farmers of Pampanga, Negros, Quezon, Davao, Tarlac and Nueva Ecija.
She finished college at the Assumption with the degree of AB, BSE, ETC and Masters Degree in Education at the Ateneo de Manila.
Mother Milagros founded the Assumpta Technical High School in 1970 in San Simon, Pampanga. Her goal was to provide children of poor farmers with an affordable Catholic and technical education. She became a star of hope to the many farmers, teachers and students.
She founded the Mother Rosa Memorial Foundation which helps provide the poor with opportunities for socio-economic growth as well as upliftment of their human dignity. Through her effort, the Ugnayan Magsasaka ng San Simon was organized. This is a federation of farmers which eventually became a cooperative. This dynamic endeavor have been replicated in Negros, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Quezon. She also worked with the Manobos and B'laan tribes and played a major role with Mt. Pinatubo victims to make their lives economically secure.
In 1998, Mother Milagros Dayrit, RA was a recipient of the Mother Teresa Awards. She was also an awardee of the 1998 BI Marie Eugenie Centenary Awards given by the Province of the Religious of the Assumption in August 15, 1998.
