HISTORY OF SAN PEDRO
The present official name of the barrio is San Pedro.
It has always been called San Pedro ever since; no popular name was attached to it; and it has no sitios. However, it is believed it then comprised what are known as barrios San Nicolas and Sta. Cruz.
The old resident of San Pedro were led by Cabeza Cristobal Lacson and wife Agustina Suarez. Before 1863, San Pedro Talimundok comprises three barangays San Pedro, San Nicolas and Santa Cruz.
In 1863, Capitan Pablo Luciano, assisted by the Cortez and Suing families, undertook the responsibility and leadership in the transfer of the town of San Bartolome to the barrio of San Pedro. The people of San Pedro, having been found to possess high quality of respectfulness, the barrio was always referred to as San Pedro de Magalang, meaning San Pedro of the respectful. About the year 1868, because of the enormous increase of the population of the community, new barrios were organized, like San Nicolas and Sta. Cruz.
The public market was established in 1900.
The Roman Catholic chapel of the barrio is situated just across the public market. It was called "bantayan" meaning "guard house", for residents on guard duty during the nights.
The Roman Catholic Cemetery was established simultaneously with the establishment of the Roman Catholic Church.
The Municipal Cemetery was first established near the Quitangil brook then to the present site.
In October 1960, the barrio was divided into San Pedro 1 & 2.
