HISTORY OF STA. LUCIA
The present name of the barrio is Sta. Lucia. It has no sitio.
The barrio was established sometime in 1892. It was founded by Cabezang Luis Gomez and his wife who were the owners of the land. Because of failures in their farm crops, they were forced to sell the land. It was sold to Capitan Paulino Gueco who donated a site for the chapel and had it constructed. Then the land was transferred to the heirs of Andres and Cecilio Gueco, when the latter bought his land from the Paredes and Peralta families.
During the Spanish regime the barrio was made as the hiding place of the people from the town.
In 1896-1900, there were no recorded important events as the barrio was not well known by the invaders.
In 1945, a Japanese pilot parachuted in this place because his plane was shot down by the American fighter planes. The pilot was captured and killed by the barrio folks.
